Does anyone know if it is possible to make OS X take screen captures in a format other than pdf? Whenever I do a screen capture the pdf file image is about 4x normal when I open it in Graphic Converter, and when I scale it down it never looks quite as crystal clear as it should. I liked Classic saving them as pict files, so I wasn't sure if there was some sort of hidden way to change it, or perhaps there is even a third party solution? Thanks!

There are several screen capture utilities to pick from ranging in price from free (I like those) to $49 for Snapz Pro with all the trimmings. Take a look at the free products. Both offer multi-format capabilites. They are SnapNDrag and FreeSnap. Of course don't forget the built-in service, Grab, in OS 10. Another servicable tool is Screen Shot Plus from pidog. It's $5, but can be used in demo mode. Hopefully, one of these will do what you're looking for.
