In the "Missing Manual" for Panther the author talks of a "Internet Connect. Where in the system can I find it? Since my G5 is hooked ONLY to a cable modem, do I need "Internet Connect"?

Ken,

It's good to hear from you. Internet Connect is found in the Applications folder. It's main purpose is to connect to the Internet via a dial-up modem. Since you're using a cable modem, you don't need it.

The Missing Manual (pg. 287 if you have the Panther edition) does mention some other things that Internet Connect can do. Since you don't have DSL and don't need to connect to a corporate network (that's the VPN or Virtual Private Networking is used for), you can safely ignore this app.

I ran into it after using OS X for about a year. I started it up once, said "that's nice" and quickly shut it down again.
