I am going to be going on a plane trip this weekend and plan on watching a movie on my Powerbook while on board. Does anyone have any thoughts on which would consume less battery power:
1.) Recording the movie onto my hard drive and playing it back
2.) Watching the DVD straight from the DVD drive.

Any thoughts?

Bob,

I haven't done this myself, but I'd bet that it'd be better from a battery perspective to use the hard drive instead of the DVD player. Also, you don't have to worry about losing the DVD if you don't take it with you.

That would be my guess too. Hard drive is better. You wouldn't have to support a second motor in the DVD player or energize the laser.
